Precautions for Operating an Oil-Injected Screw Air Compressor

I. Pre-Startup Inspection
1. Oil Level and Quality Verification

- The oil level should be above the centerline of the sight glass. The oil must meet ISO VG32 or VG46 standards (refer to GB/T 16644-2012). Poor-quality oil can cause carbon deposits, so it is recommended to replace it every 2000 hours or 6 months.

- Check the oil filter for blockage. If the pressure differential exceeds 1.5 bar, replace it immediately (Source: Atlas Copco Technical Manual).

2. System Leakage Test

- Use soapy water to check for leaks in pipe joints, paying particular attention to the minimum pressure valve (usually set to 4-4.5 bar).

3. Electrical Safety

- The voltage fluctuation range must be within ±5% (e.g., a 380V system should maintain 361-399V) to prevent motor burnout.

II. Key Monitoring Points During Operation
1. Temperature Control

- The exhaust temperature should be stable between 70-90°C (Borg BAE technical specifications). Exceeding 100°C will trigger a high-temperature alarm. Check the cooler for dirt, blockage, or oil flow obstruction.

- When the ambient temperature exceeds 40°C, it is recommended to install an auxiliary heat dissipation device.

2. Pressure Regulation

- The operating pressure must not exceed 10% of the rated value (e.g., for a machine rated at 8 bar, the long-term operating pressure must be ≤ 8.8 bar).

- The difference between the unloading and loading pressures should be controlled within 1-1.5 bar. Frequent starting and stopping will shorten the motor life.

3. Condensate Drainage

- The air tank should be manually drained every 8 hours, and the automatic drain valve should be tested weekly to prevent moisture from entering the oil line and causing rust.

III. Shutdown and Maintenance Specifications
1. Shutdown Operations

- Run the machine unloaded for 3-5 minutes before shutting it down to prevent high-pressure gas from backflowing and damaging the rotor.

- Drain cooling water after winter shutdown to prevent freezing and cracking of pipes (mandatory in areas where the freezing point falls below -5°C).

2. Periodic Maintenance

- Daily: Record operating parameters (oil temperature, pressure, and current).

- Monthly: Clean the air filter (replace when the pressure differential exceeds 0.5 bar).

- Annually: Calibrate the safety valve and replace the gearbox lubricant (refer to the brand manual).
